Why is Each Song a Separate Project?

When you enter more than 1 song the calculator creates another project to allow for any combination of Audio Mixing or Audio Mastering Services in the checkout cart. If you have any questions please contact us.

What is the Standard Cost for Mix Down?

A Stereo Master is 2 Tracks. When you enter more than 2 tracks the calculator creates a mixing project to allow for any combination of Audio Mixing with or without Audio Processing Services in the checkout cart. The stand price for up to 16 track to be mixed down is $XXX.XX. An additonal fee applies up to 24 tracks. More than 24 tracks is special pricing negotiated through our sales team.

What is the Difference Between Mixing and Mastering?

Basically, mixing is the step before mastering that involves adjusting and combining individual tracks together to form a stereo audio file after mixdown. The stereo file is then mastered, which ensures that the various songs are clearly polished and form a cohesive whole on an album.
Mixing is putting everything you have recorded together to complete your song(s). This includes adding EQ and compression, volume adjustments, adding effects, editing flaws, pitch correction and so on. Think of mixing as putting the puzzle together, putting together the parts of what you have recorded, making sure everything hangs together right while also adding the finishing touches on things. When mixing is completed, you should be pleased with the way the song sounds and feel confident that you don't need to add anything else musically.

Mastering is adding sparkle and shine to your music. In a very basic sense, when you master your album, you're making sure that song one doesn't blow out the speakers while song two is barely audible - in other words, you want the levels of the songs to be similar and you want a general sense of cohesiveness to your recording, It also add the finishing touches to the song to bring it to its highest potential, making as loud as possible without distorting and making the song sound big and strong while sounding wider and clearer to emerge you in its sound. No song should be without mastering!

PLEASE NOTE: Mastering is reccomended only for songs that have been properly mixed. Mastering does not alter or change any problems in your mix. Before having your song mastered, you should be 100% satisfied with your mix. For Mixing and Mastering packages, visit the Services page.
